Boys Spring 2021 Outlook

Dear Seacoast Lacrosse Community,

We hope that this email finds you well and enjoying the holiday season.  We wanted to briefly communicate with you in regards to our plans with the boy's teams in the 2021 spring season

As you can imagine, Covid has all of our plans in flux.  We are fully optimistic that by following proper safety measures and with some scheduling flexibility, we will have a fun and competitive season this spring.  Unfortunately, at this time, we are not certain as to when that season will commence.  Weather dependent, we hope to get outside for our preseason practices by late March/early April, with games starting mid-April thru late June.

For the Kindergartners we will practice and play in a recreation/house league style (Inter-squad scrimmages).  Grades 1-2 and 3-4 we will evenly divide our players into two teams, and will play in our local SAYLL (Seacoast Area Youth Lacrosse League SAYLL.net ).  At this level, you can anticipate 1-2 days of practice per week, with games on the weekends (primarily on Saturdays).

Grades 5/6 and 7/8, we plan to participate in NHLYA (www.nhyla.org) and compete throughout the state.  However, due to Covid, it is a real possibility that NHYLA will try to regionalize our competition (similar to how the NHIAA has done).  At this age level, there will be 2-3 days of practices and games on the weekends.  (more practices are possible with some of the older teams)

For grades 5/6, we anticipate having two teams.  Prior to the season we will have skill evaluations to allow for our players to be placed properly on a team to allow for their personal development, competition level and enjoyment of the season.

Grades 7/8 is still TBD.  It was our plan to have only one team for this age group, as we understood many of our players were planning to play on the Portsmouth Middle School team.  We are in communication with the coaches of PMS along with the PMS athletic department, and we are trying to determine the best manner to move forward this coming spring.  If PMS does NOT offer an opportunity to play, we would most likely offer two teams for this age group. We will split these teams via evaluations into teams that would allow our players to both develop personally and compete properly.  We hope to get some guidance on what PMS' plans by early February and will communicate our plans accordingly.

Seacoast does have various indoor space/time slots reserved for this winter.  As you can imagine, that schedule is also in flux.  As the spring approaches, we hope to utilize some of these times slots to allow for our players to once again get their lacrosse sticks in their hands.

We apologize for all the uncertainty.   Unfortunately, it is the world that we are living in.  We appreciate your understanding as we work our way through these obstacles.  However, we are very excited about once again getting out there and playing "the fastest game on two feet" and look forward to seeing you out there enjoying some lacrosse!

Go Seacoast!
